Intro: Mods are basically a midi(.mid) with contain
real samples of instruments and they are significantly smaller than MP3s
(60k to 1 meg). They are many different formats of mods:
.mod, .xm, .s3m,
.it, and .669 which are some of the common
formats. They can be played with Mod4Win(TM), CubicPlayer(TM), WinAmp(TM)
and other players. Mods orginated back on the 4 channel stereo sound Amiga
computers a few years ago back in 1985 when most IBM PCs and Macs could only
produce cheap beeps with their built-in speakers. The orginal mod format
contained only 4 channels, however most computers only had cheap internal
pc speakers.
